About the position

As a Senior Actuarial Analyst at Arch Capital Group, you will play a pivotal role in providing actuarial support to the Property and Casualty (P&C) Programs Insurance Business Unit. This division places a high value on actuarial expertise, utilizing both quantitative and qualitative methods to enhance decision-making processes. In this position, you will serve as a key liaison between the actuarial team and business partners, ensuring that actuarial insights are effectively communicated and integrated into business strategies. Reporting directly to the AVP of Actuarial Pricing, you will have the opportunity to influence profitability and operational efficiency through your analyses and recommendations. Your responsibilities will include conducting profitability reviews and new submission analyses, where you will apply actuarial concepts and techniques to assess portfolio profitability. This involves a deep dive into detailed segmentations to identify trends and opportunities for improvement. Additionally, you will monitor and report on portfolio rate changes, pricing adequacy, and underwriting mix changes for both new and renewal business. This critical information will guide Program Managers in making informed decisions that align with the company's strategic goals. You will also engage in actuarial studies, performing analyses and research aimed at refining pricing parameters and segmentation strategies. This work is essential for identifying profitable opportunities within the market. Responsibilities

  • Provide actuarial support to the P&C Programs Insurance Business Unit.
  • Conduct profitability reviews and new submission analyses to assess portfolio profitability.
  • Monitor portfolio rate changes, pricing adequacy, and underwriting mix changes for new and renewal business.
  • Perform actuarial studies to improve pricing parameters and segmentation.
  • Design, program, and maintain critical tools used in pricing and book monitoring.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in actuarial roles, with strong performers recognized as early as 2 years.
  • Demonstrated success on actuarial exams.
  • Strong software/programming skills, particularly in Python and SQL.
  • Superior communication skills for effective collaboration with underwriters and business leaders.
