About the position

The Senior Actuarial Analyst position at Highmark Inc. is a mid-level role that plays a crucial part in the Actuarial Executive Development Program. This position is designed for individuals who are making progress towards obtaining their actuarial credentials and are expected to apply actuarial techniques and statistical analysis across various functions. These functions may include insurance premium and pricing development, claim trend analysis, experience studies, medical economics, profitability analysis, wellness studies, predictive modeling, provider efficiency, provider contracting analysis, and claim reserving. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for developing efficient and transparent queries to obtain relevant data with minimal assistance. They will need to consider alternative explanations before drawing conclusions and make appropriate recommendations to management. The analyst will create studies, analyses, and presentation materials to inform decision-makers effectively, ensuring that all actuarial work is consistent and meets quality standards. The position requires a proactive approach to learning and development, with the analyst expected to seek feedback and continuously improve their skills and knowledge. They will manage their time and resources across multiple projects, focusing on quality and appropriateness of work while adapting to a dynamic environment. Interaction with stakeholders is essential, as the analyst must foster cooperation and effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences. Building positive relationships and providing responsive service to internal customers is also a key aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics or closely related field.
  • 2 years of experience in an Actuarial role.
  • Completion of 4 Exam Components.

Nice-to-haves

  • Completion of 6 or more Exam Components.
