About the position

The Senior Actuarial Analyst position at Emergent Holdings is primarily responsible for supporting Medicare Advantage bids, which encompass various critical tasks such as rate filing development, data acquisition, pricing, competitive analysis, strategy formulation, and process management. This role is integral to the organization as it involves not only the analysis of complex actuarial data but also the communication of findings and recommendations to leadership and stakeholders. The analyst will utilize advanced actuarial concepts to conduct thorough research and provide actionable insights that can influence decision-making processes within the company. In addition to the core responsibilities, the Senior Actuarial Analyst will ensure the completeness, accuracy, and appropriateness of all insurance data utilized in the production of outputs. This includes recommending improvements to data quality and integrity as necessary. The role requires independent judgment to recommend specific courses of action while considering the impacts on internal operations, external stakeholders, and customers. The analyst will also define the scope of major projects, coordinate their completion, and assess opportunities for efficiency enhancements in existing processes. The position demands a proactive approach to responding to requests from internal departments, prioritizing tasks, and reviewing the work of peers to ensure actuarial soundness. The Senior Actuarial Analyst will drive key departmental processes and may provide technical guidance to less experienced team members. Staying current on actuarial techniques and understanding corporate objectives and cultural beliefs are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize advanced actuarial concepts to perform complex analysis, conduct research and make recommendations to leadership.
  • Ensure completeness, accuracy and appropriateness of all insurance data used in the production of outputs; recommend improvements to data as needed.
  • Independently recommend specific course of action; consider internal, external and customer impacts.
  • Independently communicate to stakeholders.
  • Define scope of major projects and coordinate completion.
  • Assess and implement efficiency enhancing processes where available.
  • Respond to requests from internal departments; prioritize and review work of peers for actuarial soundness.
  • Drive key department processes and provide technical guidance to less experienced team members.
  • Remain current on actuarial techniques, seek development and improvement opportunities and understand corporate/cross-functional objectives and cultural beliefs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science or related area.
  • Four (4) years related actuarial experience, with preference for at least one year of BCN/BCBSM actuarial experience or comparable experience at another company.
  • Earned at least four (4) course credits toward the attainment of the FSA designation, and is a member, in good standing, of the Actuarial Development Program.
  • Knowledge of actuarial methods and practices.
  • Strong analytical, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to apply appropriate planning and prioritization techniques.
