About the position

We are seeking an Associate of the Society of Actuaries (ASA) with a minimum of 6 years of experience to assess and interpret financial risk, conduct product line evaluations, and develop actuarial documentation. This role is crucial in ensuring that our products are competitively priced and compliant with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills and a deep understanding of the healthcare insurance landscape, particularly in rate filing processes. Experience in the state of California is preferred, as it will be beneficial in navigating the specific regulatory environment and market dynamics. This position offers the flexibility of remote work, allowing you to contribute to our team from various locations including Aurora, CO, Oakland, CA, Pasadena, CA, Portland, OR, Renton, WA, and San Diego, CA.

Responsibilities

  • Assess and interpret financial risk associated with healthcare products.
  • Conduct product line evaluations to ensure competitiveness and compliance.
  • Develop and maintain actuarial documentation for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support product development and pricing strategies.
  • Prepare rate filings and ensure adherence to state regulations, particularly in California.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of experience in actuarial roles, preferably within the healthcare insurance sector.
  • ASA designation is required.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets.
  • Experience with rate filing processes and regulatory compliance in California is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Fellow of the Society of Actuaries (FSA) designation is a plus.
  • Experience with predictive modeling and statistical analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with healthcare regulations and market trends in various states.
