About the position

The Senior Admissions Specialist at Texas State University plays a crucial role in overseeing specialized admission programs and providing mentorship to entry and mid-level admission processors. This position is responsible for evaluating applicant files, ensuring accurate admission decisions, and maintaining high standards of customer service within the Office of Undergraduate Admissions. The role also involves collaboration with various stakeholders to support high school and college articulation and evaluations.

Responsibilities

  • Management and oversight of specialized admission programs such as accelerated online programs and TXST-Mexico.
  • Evaluate and review applicant files to make accurate and timely admission decisions.
  • Evaluation and articulation of transcripts including making initial equivalency recommendations.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to applicants and stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Dependable and strong work ethic.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to make decisions and problem-solve independently, including identifying discrepancies and determining resolutions.
  • Experience with report writing and analyzing data.
  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Attention to detail.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience being a point of contact for a specialized program/population or comparable experience.
  • Experience with Banner (or comparable SIS) and Slate (or comparable CRM).
  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • Direct experience working in an admissions processing office, preferably including college transcript articulation and evaluation.
  • Experience with training and mentoring entry-level staff.
  • Bilingual Spanish.
