About the position

The Senior Advanced Cloud DevOps and Platform Engineer will lead the integration of new capabilities into the platform, set technical objectives, and develop automation for PaaS deployments. This role involves interfacing with customers, guiding engineering teams in cloud technologies, and supporting the implementation of PaaS in the cloud through architecture guidance and best practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead research spikes to integrate new capabilities into the Platform
• Help break down work and contribute to roadmapping sessions
• Help set technical objectives for the team
• Develop automation to create and maintain several PaaS deployments
• Automatically configure and deploy PaaS infrastructure
• Interface with internal and external customers to deploy solutions and deliver workshops
• Work closely with the team to plan major updates and enhancements to products
• Guide engineering teams in evolving Cloud technologies
• Support successful implementation of a PaaS in the Cloud through architecture guidance, best practices, data migration, implementation, troubleshooting, and monitoring.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Software Engineering or a related field, or a Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience
• 8+ years of job-related experience
• Agile experience preferred
• Department of Defense TS/SCI security clearance required
• U.S. citizenship required

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with public (AWS, Azure), private (RHOSP, VIO), and mixed cloud environments
• Container technologies such as Docker or Kubernetes
• Deployment of CI/CD technologies like GitLab, Jenkins, Puppet, or Chef
• Experience maintaining production-grade applications in virtualized environments
• Creation of pipelines, Ansible Playbooks, and/or Terraform configurations
• IT security practices including encryption, certificates, key management, and patch management
• Installation of IaaS technologies such as AWS, OpenStack, RHOSP, or VIO
• Management of Cloud Resources in AWS and/or Azure
• PaaS technologies such as Kubernetes, Rancher, or OpenShift
• Cloud automation tooling such as Ansible, Terraform, Terragrunt, or Packer
• Open source server, messaging, load balancing, and database software
