About the position

The Senior Advanced position at MAS Global is a pivotal role for an experienced Java developer with a strong background in AWS cloud services and microservices architecture. The individual will lead a dynamic team in designing, developing, and deploying sophisticated software solutions, ensuring the delivery of scalable and high-quality applications. This role emphasizes collaboration, technical leadership, and innovation in a mission-driven company focused on creating educational opportunities for women and Latinos in tech.

Responsibilities

• Work with a team of developers in designing and implementing robust Java-based applications and microservices.
• Architect scalable solutions using AWS cloud services such as EC2, S3, Lambda, RDS, DynamoDB, etc.
• Develop and maintain RESTful APIs to support internal and external applications.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Conduct thorough code reviews, provide technical guidance, and ensure adherence to coding standards and architectural principles.
• Champion Agile methodologies within the team, facilitating sprint planning, retrospectives, and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot complex technical issues related to performance, scalability, and system integrations.
• Stay abreast of emerging technologies and industry trends, proposing and implementing innovative solutions.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).
• Minimum 8 -12 years of progressive experience in Java development, with a deep understanding of Java SE/EE and related frameworks (e.g., Spring Boot).
• Extensive expertise in designing and implementing microservices architectures and RESTful APIs.
• Strong proficiency in deploying and managing applications on AWS cloud infrastructure, with hands-on experience in leveraging a wide range of AWS services.
• Solid understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and data modeling concepts.
• Demonstrated leadership abilities with at least 5 years of experience in a technical leadership role.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively articulate technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and related tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitLab CI/CD) is highly desirable.

Nice-to-haves

• AWS certification (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, AWS Certified Developer) is a plus.
• Knowledge of containerization technologies (e.g., Docker) and orchestration platforms (e.g., Kubernetes) would be advantageous.
• Understanding of security best practices in application development and deployment.
