As an Advanced Systems Administration Specialist, you will serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues, conducting systems analysis and development to ensure that systems remain current with changing technologies. Your responsibilities will include installing new software, troubleshooting issues, granting permissions to applications, and training users on system functionalities. You will also be responsible for the day-to-day support of server services, which involves performing server administration for both physical and virtual server operating systems. This includes configuring, maintaining, and troubleshooting physical and virtual hardware, as well as network-related interfaces on servers. Additionally, you will perform operating system and vendor software patching on servers and monitor the performance of both physical and virtual servers using various monitoring tools. This position offers the opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain, AR/VR, Cloud Native, and Quantum Physics to solve complex customer missions across various domains including cyber, RF, undersea, and interstellar operations.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a front-line interface to users with technical issues.
  • Conduct systems analysis and development to keep systems current with changing technologies.
  • Install new software and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Grant permissions to applications and train users on system functionalities.
  • Perform server administration for physical and virtual server operating systems.
  • Configure, maintain, and troubleshoot physical and virtual hardware and network-related interfaces on servers.
  • Perform OS and vendor software patching on servers.
  • Monitor physical and virtual server performance using monitoring tools.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related field, or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience; or a Master's degree plus 6 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of server-based operating systems.
  • Enhanced troubleshooting skills within the server OS as well as networking and storage technologies.
  • Working knowledge to create and run scripts to automate repetitive processes.
