About The Position

The Senior Aerospace Welding Technician plays a crucial role in the Amentum Space Exploration Department, providing support to the NASA EM32 Welding and Manufacturing team. This position involves performing welding and fabrication operations while collaborating closely with engineers and technicians to address complex challenges in welding and manufacturing development projects.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED, or equivalent; at least 15 years of experience, or an Associate's Degree with at least 10 years of experience.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain permission to operate customer-owned vehicles.
  • Possess and maintain a valid driver's license and automobile liability insurance.
  • Complete company defensive driving training class.
  • Obtain and maintain customer safety certifications in Welding Safety, Respirator, Overhead Crane/Hoist Operator, Rigger, Forklift Operator, and Aerial Lift Operator.
  • Demonstrated experience in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding and/or Variable Polarity Plasma Arc welding on aerospace materials such as aluminum, stainless steel, superalloys, and titanium.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with NASA-STD-5006, MSFC-SPEC-3679, ANSI/AWS D17.1/D17.1M:2010-AMD1, and ANSI/AWS D17.3/D17.3M:2010 specifications.

Responsibilities

  • Perform welding and fabrication operations.
  • Collaborate with ASED and customer engineers and technicians to resolve complex welding and manufacturing issues.
  • Support the development and execution of welding and manufacturing projects.
