About the position

The Senior AI and Machine Learning Research Engineer will play a pivotal role in the AI and ML team at Southern Glazer's Wine & Spirits, focusing on the development and implementation of generative AI initiatives. This includes creating advanced systems for sales coaching, developing chatbots that provide data insights, and building interactive recommendation engines. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing advanced generative AI models tailored for various applications, including conversational AI and recommendation systems. Collaboration with cross-functional teams will be essential to identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions, translating business requirements into technical specifications. The engineer will also build and optimize large language models (LLMs) and other generative AI architectures to meet specific business needs. Additionally, the engineer will develop and maintain AI-powered chatbots and virtual assistants, ensuring they provide valuable data insights and interactive recommendations. The role requires implementing and fine-tuning natural language processing (NLP) models for various applications within the company, ensuring the scalability, reliability, and efficiency of AI systems in production environments. Staying current with the latest advancements in generative AI is crucial, as is mentoring junior team members and contributing to the overall growth of the AI team. The engineer will also prepare and present AI modeling results and analytical insights to stakeholders at various levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and implement advanced generative AI models for applications including sales coaching, conversational AI, and recommendation systems.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify opportunities for AI-driven solutions and translate business requirements into technical specifications.
• Build and optimize large language models (LLMs) and other generative AI architectures to suit specific business needs.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, or 2+ years of hands-on experience in developing and deploying machine learning and AI models, with a focus on generative AI and NLP.
• Strong expertise in deep learning frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, or JAX.
• Proficiency in Python and experience with big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop).
• Demonstrated experience in building and deploying large language models and generative AI systems.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and MLOps practices.
• Strong understanding of NLP techniques, including transformer architectures, attention mechanisms, and transfer learning.
• Experience with conversational AI, chatbot development, and recommendation systems.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to translate complex business problems into AI solutions.
• Strong communication skills to explain technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
