About the position

The Senior AI Engineer at WEX Inc. is responsible for enabling product development teams to quickly deploy machine learning (ML) and large language model (LLM) functionalities into applications. The role emphasizes a cloud-first approach, automation of infrastructure, testing, and deployment, and requires collaboration with cross-functional teams to enhance product functionality through robust and scalable full-stack components.

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, and maintain robust and scalable full-stack components that enhance the functionality of WEX products.
• Work closely with machine learning engineers to integrate AI components and models into WEX systems.
• Collaborate with the team to manage version control using GitHub and implement robust CI/CD pipelines for continuous integration and delivery.
• Design and implement RESTful APIs to facilitate communication between various components and ensure smooth operation of applications.
• Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams, participate in code reviews, and communicate solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Build, maintain, and support the AI Platform components.

Requirements

• Minimum 4 years of application development experience.
• Minimum 2 years of AI/ML experience.
• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Proven experience as a Full Stack Software Engineer with a focus on building scalable solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud technologies, such as AWS, Azure, or GCP and how to provision those services through IAC frameworks such as Terraform.
• Experience applying DevOps principles to software development processes.
• Proficiency in version control systems, particularly GitHub.
• Strong knowledge of CI/CD pipelines for automated testing and deployment.
• Experience running production AI/ML workloads at scale on tools like Sagemaker, Dataiku, DataRobot, etc.
• Hands-on experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to addressing challenges.
