About the position

The Senior AI Engineer at Capital One is responsible for creating and implementing advanced AI systems that enhance customer experiences and improve banking operations. This role involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to develop AI-powered products, leveraging cutting-edge technologies, and contributing to the technical vision of foundational AI systems. The engineer will focus on building scalable, reliable, and responsible AI solutions that align with Capital One's commitment to innovation in the financial sector.

Responsibilities

• Partner with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products that enhance customer interactions.
• Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and large language model inference.
• Leverage a broad stack of Open Source and SaaS AI technologies such as AWS Ultraclusters and PyTorch.
• Invent and introduce state-of-the-art LLM optimization techniques to improve performance of large-scale production AI systems.
• Contribute to the technical vision and long-term roadmap of foundational AI systems.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or AI plus at least 3 years of experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies, or Master's degree.
• At least 3 years of experience programming with Python, Go, Scala, or Java.

Nice-to-haves

• 4 years of experience deploying scalable and responsible AI solutions on cloud platforms (e.g. AWS, Google Cloud, Azure).
• Experience developing AI and ML algorithms or technologies using Python, C++, C#, Java, or Golang.
• Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or relevant technical field.
• Experience optimizing training and inference software for improved hardware utilization and cost.
