About the position

The Senior AI/ML Engineer at Verizon is responsible for leading the industrialization of AI and machine learning processes within the organization. This role involves providing technology leadership, driving discussions with various teams, and serving as a subject matter expert in AI practices. The engineer will oversee the development, validation, deployment, and observability of AI/ML models, ensuring they meet the organization's needs and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Lead AI Industrialization efforts for Verizon.
  • Provide technology leadership and drive discussions with Enterprise Architecture, Data Science, and Data Engineering teams.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Responsible AI, Gen AI, Natural Language Processing, and Computer Vision.
  • Lead the study and transformation of data science prototypes.
  • Research, design, and implement appropriate ML algorithms and tools.
  • Consolidate and implement new concepts and processes in various technical areas.
  • Set standards for datasets and data representation methods.
  • Extend existing ML libraries and frameworks.
  • Determine processes and standards for running machine learning tests and experiments.
  • Design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and improve machine learning system software.
  • Set strategy for ML/AI tools and processes, determining future business needs.
  • Partner with stakeholders to define an overall plan for model governance and inventory tracking.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or four or more years of work experience.
  • Four or more years of relevant work experience in AI/ML.
  • Advanced knowledge of Machine Learning processes, tools, and systems.
  • Deep understanding and hands-on experience with ML Engineering techniques and tools.
  • Hands-on experience with modeling platforms like Domino, Jupyter, H2O.ai, DataRobot, Conda, ML Flow.
  • Business domain knowledge such as churn management and personalization.

Nice-to-haves

  • Deep understanding of data wrangling, feature engineering, and scalable data pipelines.
  • Experience with database technologies like NoSQL, RDBMS, Graph DBs, Presto, Hive, MongoDB, Cassandra, PostgreSQL, Teradata.
  • Experience designing and implementing complex enterprise systems including logging, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelining.
  • Experience with Google Cloud Platform, AWS, or similar cloud solutions.
  • Proficient in Big Data Technologies, Data Transport, Spark, Jupyter/Python.
  • Experience with programming languages like Core Java, J2EE, Node.js, Angular, Python, R, Scala, SQL.
