About the position

As a Founding Senior Applied AI / ML Engineer at Avy, you will play a central role in developing innovative software solutions that enhance collaboration between humans and computers. This hands-on position offers exceptional growth prospects in a fast-paced environment, where you will establish the core AI and machine learning systems, implement innovative ideas, and fine-tune existing technologies to optimize performance.

Responsibilities

• Establish the core of Avy's AI and machine learning systems.
• Guide the development of new datasets for model training and improvement.
• Implement privacy-preserving techniques and generate synthetic data.
• Fine-tune search, retrieval, and knowledge graph systems for optimal performance.
• Stay abreast of the latest advancements in AI and ML and assess their applicability.

Requirements

• Intellectual curiosity combined with a pragmatic, results-driven approach.
• Strong communication skills for collaboration with diverse teams.
• Experience with various AI and ML model architectures, especially for NLP, image, and audio processing.
• Ability to explain how a Transformer model works.
• Experience improving models running in production settings.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience fine-tuning open-weight LLMs and other models.
• Knowledge of typed languages (C, C++, Swift, Go).
• Familiarity with knowledge graphs, search, and information retrieval.
• An advanced degree in computer science, math, physics, statistics, neuroscience, data science, or other technical fields.
