About the position

The Senior Analyst for Alternative Investments Service and Operations at Raymond James plays a crucial role in supporting the entire life cycle of alternative investment products approved by the RCS division. This position operates under very limited direction, allowing for a high level of autonomy. The analyst will leverage extensive knowledge and skills acquired through education and experience to manage new product onboarding, ongoing investment servicing, and, when necessary, the termination of investment support. The role involves close collaboration with the Alternative Investments Group (AIG) Operations team, Raymond James Financial Advisors, and senior leadership within various departments, including PCG Investment Products and Global Wealth Solutions. The analyst will also engage with regulatory reconciliation and alternative investment fund partners to ensure seamless operations. In this position, the Senior Analyst will design, lead, and drive process improvement initiatives aimed at reducing risk and enhancing the department's profitability. The responsibilities include running the operational infrastructure of alternative investment funds on a leading investment platform, ensuring that operations processes align with industry best practices. The analyst will respond to information requests from various stakeholders, mentor associates in operations support functions, and network with operational due diligence contacts to benchmark the Raymond James platform against industry norms. Additionally, the analyst will analyze existing operational infrastructures, compare them against industry standards, and provide written recommendations for improvements. The role requires a strong understanding of database design and data structure to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of technology and business processes. The Senior Analyst will also be responsible for reconciling client investments to fund sponsors, generating client trade confirmations, updating positions and valuations on client statements, processing redemptions and fund subscriptions, and maintaining account performance details. The position may also involve leading suspense account and accrual reconciliations, as well as collaborating with IT professionals to implement process improvement and risk mitigation projects. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

  • Run the operational infrastructure of alternative investment funds held on a leading investment platform.
  • Ensure operations processes compare favorably with best practices in the industry.
  • Lead AIG operations for RCS' alternative investment offering, supporting all operational aspects of the platform.
  • Respond to requests for information from various stakeholders regarding alternative investment products.
  • Mentor associates performing operations support functions.
  • Network with operational due diligence and broker dealer contacts to benchmark the Raymond James platform against industry norms.
  • Analyze existing operational infrastructure at funds on the AIG platform and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Employ knowledge of database design and data structure to improve technology and business processes.
  • Reconcile client investments to fund sponsors and generate client trade confirmations.
  • Process redemptions, fund subscriptions, and maintain account performance details.
  • Lead suspense account and accrual reconciliations.
  • Collaborate with IT professionals on process improvement and risk mitigation projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of five years' experience at an alternative fund or broker dealer's alternative investment department.
  • Knowledge of MS Office applications, particularly advanced Excel and Access functions.
  • Strong understanding of investment concepts, practices, and procedures used in the securities industry.
  • Familiarity with FINRA and SEC rules involving investor accreditation standards.
  • Experience with accounting and reporting processes, including cash management and NAV analysis.
  • Ability to interpret complex legal documents such as private placement memorandums and limited partnership agreements.
