About the position

The Senior Analyst Compensation at Walgreens is responsible for a wide range of compensation activities that include complex job evaluations, market pricing, salary surveys, and the maintenance and administration of compensation databases and systems. This role plays a critical part in supporting the Compensation department's service delivery model by conducting compensation activities on a departmental, divisional, or company-wide basis, as well as managing complex projects. The analyst will work with highly sensitive and confidential information, ensuring that all data is handled with the utmost discretion and integrity. In this position, the Senior Analyst will participate in approved salary surveys by collecting and reporting data to third-party providers, reviewing results, and making recommendations regarding benchmark jobs. The role also involves providing analytical support for the development of merit budgets, salary structure modifications, and incentive plan data gathering and reporting. The analyst will prepare complex economic and cost impact models for compensation initiatives and provide counseling to management regarding pay changes, promotions, and transfers. The Senior Analyst will stay current with compensation trends through continuous learning and participation in professional organizations. They may also coach and mentor less experienced Compensation Analysts and manage ad-hoc compensation projects. Additionally, the analyst will participate in the design of incentive compensation plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and developing communication plans to measure attainment against these plans. This role requires collaboration with HR Business Partners and other HR team members to ensure that Walgreens can effectively recruit and retain top-tier talent. The Senior Analyst will develop and analyze compensation programs to ensure competitiveness within the market and may present these programs to senior executives for approval. Furthermore, the analyst will assist in enhancing the compensation aspects of HR information systems to support strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive compensation information during normal business operations.
  • Participate in salary surveys by collecting and reporting data to third-party providers.
  • Review salary survey results and recommend benchmark job additions or deletions.
  • Provide analytical support for merit budgets, salary structure modifications, and incentive plan data.
  • Prepare economic and cost impact models for compensation initiatives.
  • Counsel management on complex pay changes, promotions, and transfers.
  • Stay current on compensation trends through training and professional organizations.
  • Coach and mentor less senior Compensation Analysts.
  • Manage complex ad-hoc compensation projects and analyses.
  • Participate in the development of incentive compensation plan designs and ensure model validation.
  • Counsel HRBPs and others on compensation philosophy, market pricing, and job evaluation.
  • Develop and analyze compensation programs to ensure market competitiveness.
  • Assist in enhancing compensation aspects in HR information systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of compensation experience, or high school/GED and at least 4 years of compensation experience.
  • Experience with confidentiality requirements in HR, Compensation, or Finance.
  • Experience with compensation techniques, job evaluation, salary survey practices, and total rewards concepts.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Word, including inserting headers and adjusting tables.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and using functions.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft PowerPoint, including formatting and customizing slides.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10% for business purposes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or business administration and at least 2 years of compensation experience.
  • Experience in other HR functions such as generalist, business partner, or benefits.
  • Experience with incentive compensation plan design and measurement.
  • Knowledge of HRIS analytics related to compensation functions.
  • Basic accounting knowledge and collaboration with Finance on compensation activities.
  • Experience with compliance requirements such as EEOC and OFCCP.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and its application to job evaluation.
