About the position

The Senior Analyst Compensation position at Walgreens is a critical role within the Compensation department, responsible for a wide range of compensation activities that support the company's service delivery model. This role involves complex job evaluations, market pricing, salary surveys, and the maintenance and administration of compensation databases and systems. The Senior Analyst will conduct compensation activities on a departmental, divisional, or company-wide basis, as well as manage complex projects that require analytical and reporting support. In this position, the analyst will handle highly sensitive and confidential information, ensuring that all data is managed with the utmost discretion. The role includes participation in approved salary surveys, where the analyst will collect and report data to third-party providers, review survey results, and make recommendations regarding benchmark jobs. The Senior Analyst will also provide analytical support for merit budgets, salary structure modifications, and incentive plan data gathering and reporting. The position requires expertise in accessing and maintaining compensation and HR databases, as well as preparing complex economic models to assess the impact of compensation initiatives. The analyst will counsel management on pay changes, keep current with compensation trends through continuous learning, and may mentor less senior analysts. Additionally, the Senior Analyst will participate in the development of incentive compensation plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and effective communication of these plans. The role also involves making recommendations for compensation programs to ensure competitiveness in the market and may require meetings with senior executives to present and gain approval for these programs.

Responsibilities

  • Work with highly sensitive and confidential information, maintaining confidentiality during business operations.
  • Participate in approved salary surveys by collecting and reporting data to third-party providers.
  • Review salary survey results and provide recommendations on benchmark jobs.
  • Provide analytical support for merit budgets, salary structure modifications, and incentive plan data gathering.
  • Access, change, maintain, and assure the quality of compensation and HR databases.
  • Prepare complex economic and cost impact models for compensation initiatives.
  • Counsel management on complex pay changes, including promotions and transfers.
  • Stay current on compensation trends through training and professional organizations.
  • Coach and mentor less senior Compensation Analysts.
  • Manage complex ad-hoc Compensation projects and analyses.
  • Participate in the development of incentive compensation plan designs and ensure model validation.
  • Counsel HRBPs and TA team members on aspects of Walgreens' reward philosophy and compensation practices.
  • Develop and analyze compensation programs to ensure competitiveness within the market.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and at least 1 year of compensation experience; OR high school/GED and at least 4 years of compensation experience.
  • Experience with confidentiality requirements in Human Resources, Compensation, or Finance.
  • Experience applying compensation techniques, job evaluation, salary survey practices, and total rewards concepts.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft Word, including inserting headers and adjusting tables.
  • Advanced skill in Microsoft Excel, including creating pivot tables and using functions.
  • Intermediate skill in Microsoft PowerPoint, including formatting and customizing slides.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field such as human resources or business administration and at least 2 years of compensation experience.
  • Experience in other HR functions such as generalist, business partner, or benefits.
  • Experience with incentive compensation plan designs and measurement.
  • Knowledge of basic accounting principles and collaboration with Finance on compensation activities.
  • Experience with compliance requirements such as EEOC and OFCCP.
  • Knowledge of the Fair Labor Standards Act and its applicability to job evaluation.
