About the position

The College of Southern Nevada is seeking a Senior Compensation Analyst to join our team. This position is critical to ensuring that the college remains competitive in terms of salaries and employee benefits. The Senior Compensation Analyst will report directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) and will be responsible for conducting comprehensive compensation analysis, researching requirements, and evaluating positions. The role is essential for maintaining operational excellence within the institution. In this position, the Senior Compensation Analyst will support the Human Resources department by generating reports, conducting job description reviews, and analyzing data from various sources to ensure accurate reporting. The analyst will assess job classifications to determine whether positions are exempt or nonexempt and will establish appropriate salary ranges based on market benchmarks. This includes gathering data from market-based compensation surveys and utilizing spreadsheet and data analysis techniques to assess results and identify market trends. Additionally, the Senior Compensation Analyst will research employee benefits in similar industries and recommend changes or updates to the college's existing benefits or policies based on findings. The role will also involve planning and communicating best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees. The analyst will collaborate with the CHRO to advise management on applicable state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, human resource procedures, and collective agreements. This position is vital for ensuring that the college attracts and retains top talent while adhering to compliance standards.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct compensation analysis and research requirements to evaluate positions.
  • Generate reports and conduct job description reviews and analysis.
  • Collect and analyze data from various sources to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Assess job classifications to determine exempt or nonexempt status and appropriate salary ranges.
  • Benchmark positions against survey data and market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges.
  • Prepare and present summary reports of analysis and compensation information.
  • Research employee benefits in similar industries and recommend changes to existing benefits or policies.
  • Plan and communicate best practices for hiring, training, compensating, and evaluating employees.
  • Advise management on state and federal employment regulations, benefits and compensation policies, and human resource procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business, or a related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of compensation analyst experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in human resources, business, or related field from an accredited college or university, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP certification.
  • Certification in compensation.
  • 4 years of related professional experience.
  • Experience with Workday HRIS system.
  • Ability to analyze market trends and process data effectively.
