About the position

The Senior Analyst in Control Management, Product/Service Risk Advisory at American Express is responsible for providing strategic risk advisory support specific to product and service areas. This role focuses on embedding control management into daily operations, collaborating with various business units and functional areas to enhance operational risk management practices. The position involves assessing the needs of business leaders, facilitating risk awareness, and leveraging best practices from historical initiatives to inform risk identification throughout the product lifecycle.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing strategic risk advisory support for specific product/service areas.
  • Compile best practices and learnings from historical product launches and change management initiatives.
  • Support the assessment of needs for business unit and functional leaders regarding Operational Risk Management (ORM) and controls.
  • Coordinate with product development and service delivery teams to embed operational risk management considerations into the product lifecycle.
  • Facilitate risk awareness and education within product and service teams.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in operational risk management (e.g., within Risk and/or Internal Audit function).
  • Strong project management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in process governance and overseeing decision-making processes that align with policies and regulatory frameworks.
  • Sound analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and evaluate risk scenarios.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Business, Risk Management, or related field; advanced degrees or certifications are advantageous.
  • Knowledge or interest in emerging risk fields such as Payments, Artificial Intelligence, Web3.
  • Experience in assessing the needs of business unit leaders regarding ORM and controls.
