About the position

The Senior Analyst, Data Governance at Scotts Miracle-Gro plays a crucial role in supporting the implementation and enhancement of the organization's data governance initiatives. This position requires a detail-oriented and analytical individual who collaborates with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, compliance, and effective management.

Responsibilities

• Conduct thorough data quality assessments to identify discrepancies, anomalies, and areas for improvement.
• Collaborate with data stewards and technical teams to implement corrective measures and enhance overall data quality.
• Manage and enhance metadata repositories, documenting data lineage, definitions, and relationships.
• Work closely with stakeholders to ensure accurate and comprehensive metadata documentation.
• Assist in the classification of data based on sensitivity and business impact.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of data classification frameworks and policies.
• Generate and present regular reports on the status of data governance initiatives, data quality metrics, and adherence to data governance policies.
• Provide insights and recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Support efforts to ensure compliance with data protection laws and regulations.
• Assist in the development and implementation of measures to protect sensitive and personal data.
• Assist in the development and delivery of training programs to enhance data governance awareness across the organization.
• Participate in data impact assessments for new projects, system changes, or data migrations.

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Information Management, Computer Science, or related field.
• 2 - 4 years of experience preferred.
• Programming experience (e.g., Python, SQL).
• Experience with data integration and data virtualization tools such as AWS Glue, Informatica, or Mulesoft.
• Experience with Agile methodologies.
• Strong understanding and hands-on experience with the implementation and management of data governance tools such as Collibra, Informatica, or Alation.
• Proven experience in data governance, data analysis, or a related analytical role.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Familiarity with data quality tools and metadata management concepts.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
