About the position

The Senior Analyst, Financial Data Governance role at SoFi is a pivotal position that extends the Accounting and Controllership function, focusing on the integration of data governance within financial operations. This role is designed to partner with data producers, owners, and consumers to leverage data and analytics, delivering insights and data-driven solutions that accelerate business outcomes. Reporting to the Lead of Financial Data Governance, the analyst will utilize their expertise in data governance and accounting to assist the Controllership function in consuming and delivering trusted data across the organization, aligning with the evolving company strategy. This ensures stability, quality, and the ability to meet the organization's data needs effectively. In this capacity, the Senior Analyst will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity of financial reporting and accounting processes. By understanding and addressing the data and analytics needs of various stakeholders, the analyst will help provide high-quality data that is accessible and consistent. Responsibilities include managing customer, supplier, and product master data to ensure completeness and accuracy while adhering to data governance policies. The role also involves creating and updating data flows, capturing metadata, establishing data lineage, and analyzing data quality across multiple domains. The Senior Analyst will ensure compliance with data governance guidelines, enhancing the accuracy and timeliness of data analytics while protecting sensitive information. This position is integral to the execution of the Enterprise Data Strategy and involves collaboration with various teams to implement data standards and business rules, facilitating education and training in data governance policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with Enterprise Data Governance Policies and Standards related to data production, aggregation, and consumption.
  • Assist with operationalization of data governance processes in partnership with data owners.
  • Contribute to the execution of the Enterprise Data Strategy and Critical Data Element (CDE) management.
  • Partner with data producers and IT to implement data standards, business rules, and Data Quality (DQ) issues and escalation procedures.
  • Facilitate and support education and ongoing training in Enterprise data governance policies and procedures.
  • Work with functional units to identify CDE, business terms, lineage mapping, and socialize progress among stakeholders.
  • Document and maintain CDE business descriptions, data lineage, data sources, and transformation logic in a centralized data governance repository.
  • Facilitate and support data quality improvement initiatives across DQ dimensions.
  • Collaborate with Data Owners, Business Process owners, and IT to ensure data used for reporting is fit for purpose.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in data governance and accounting.
  • Experience in building a similar function within Accounting and Finance, preferably in the financial services industry.
  • Experience working with data owners, data stewards, and business leaders to ensure data integrity.
  • Strong business acumen, strategic thinking, and financial analytical skills.
  • Experience in an Enterprise Data Governance Program and understanding of data governance practices.
  • Knowledge of CDE identification, data attributes, and lineage documentation.
  • Familiarity with architecture design, relational databases, and process design is a plus.
  • Knowledge of data governance tools such as Alation, Collibra, JIRA, Monte Carlo, or similar.

Nice-to-haves

  • Big 4 experience is preferred.
  • Experience in FinTech, banking, and/or financial services is preferred.
