About the position

Common App is a national not-for-profit organization dedicated to the pursuit of access, equity, and integrity in the college admission process. Each year we support more than 1 million students, one-third of whom are first-generation, as they apply to our more than 1000 diverse member colleges & universities using the Common App's free online application. We are currently searching for a Senior Analyst (Financial Planning & Analysis) to join our FP&A team. This role involves supporting day-to-day planning and analysis activities, developing and implementing processes and tools for optimum operations, and providing financial management support to Executive and Senior Management leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day planning and analysis activities.
  • Develop and implement processes and tools for optimum operations of the FP&A department.
  • Prepare and present plans (budgets/forecasts) to management.
  • Conduct regular management reporting and analysis of actual results.
  • Align business analytics with the organization's strategic objectives.
  • Ensure operations are efficient and effective within Common App financial policies.

Requirements

  • Candidates must live in the United States.
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4-6 years of progressive financial planning and analysis experience preferably in a similar non-profit or marketplace business with revenue streams of $30 million or greater.
  • Experience using financial systems to prepare and manage budgets and forecasts.
  • Experience with financial planning and reporting software.
  • Experience with analytics and visualization software (e.g., Tableau, Qlik).
  • Strong understanding of US GAAP and ability to communicate differences in GAAP and cash financials.
  • Strong analytical/modeling skills and experience executing budgeting and strategic planning processes.
  • Excel fluency and superior financial modeling, quantitative, and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail with a high standard of precision and accuracy.
  • Ability to evaluate financial and business indicators and translate data into actionable information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or equivalent certification.
  • Grant and/or government contracting financial modeling and reporting experience.
  • Experience with Workday Adaptive.
  • Ability to influence at all levels and work effectively within a team.
  • Effective presentation skills in various settings.
  • Problem-solving and decision quality skills.
