About the position

The Senior Analyst, Food Safety Audit at United Airlines is responsible for managing and executing the Food Safety & Quality Assurance audit program. This role ensures compliance with US regulatory requirements and international regulations for suppliers, Clubs & Lounges, and contract caterers. The analyst conducts audits, issues reports, and drives continual improvement in food safety practices, supporting the overall mission of United Airlines to provide safe and high-quality food services.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and execute the audit program for the Food Safety & Quality Assurance program.
  • Conduct food safety audits and inspections at supplier and hospitality partner locations.
  • Issue audit reports and corrective action plans to address identified gaps.
  • Maintain accurate records in food safety software systems.
  • Review investigations and ensure root cause analysis for non-conformances and complaints.
  • Conduct supplier assessments to ensure compliance with food safety standards.
  • Review supplier performance against food safety KPIs and communicate expectations.
  • Participate in management review meetings to share performance results and trends.
  • Promote food safety culture through effective communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Microbiology, Food Science, Food Engineering, or a related field.
  • 3 - 5+ years in a Food Safety and Quality Assurance role in food manufacturing or services.
  • HACCP Certification and Seafood HACCP Certification.
  • PCQI Qualification (UA may fund certifications if not currently held).
  • Knowledge of FDA-Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA), USDA, and DOD requirements.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to review and interpret technical documentation.
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of work across various locations.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous experience with FSSC or other GFSI schemes.
  • Experience with international regulations.
  • CFS Certification and Lead Auditor Certification.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience.
  • ServSafe Manager Certification.
  • Knowledge of airline catering operations and GFSI schemes.
  • Advanced computer skills with food safety software programs.
