About the position

The Senior Analyst, FP&A Marketing role at Confluent is a pivotal position within the Marketing Finance team, designed to enhance the organization's understanding of pipeline performance and optimize execution across go-to-market (GTM) strategies. This role involves close collaboration with various departments, including Field Sales, Marketing, and Partner organizations, to leverage business data effectively. The primary focus is on providing insights into pipeline generation, progression, and coverage metrics, which are crucial for setting global pipeline generation targets and driving strategic decisions across the company. In this role, the analyst will be responsible for weekly reporting and insights on pipeline metrics, utilizing these insights to develop an activity-based pipeline generation model. This model aims to optimize pipeline generation efforts across multiple functions, including sales, customer success, marketing, product, and partner organizations. The analyst will also create a framework for pipeline generation and progression that emphasizes data-driven decision-making and actionable insights. Building strong relationships with key internal stakeholders across Data Science, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance is essential for success in this position. The ideal candidate will possess a deep understanding of go-to-market business functions, particularly in a growth-oriented global SaaS environment. A background in a consumption-based business model is highly desirable, as it aligns with the company's operational focus. This position reports directly to the Senior Director of Marketing Finance, making it a critical role in shaping the financial strategies that support Confluent's growth and success in the data streaming market.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary analyst for weekly reporting and insights on pipeline generation, progression and coverage metrics.
  • Utilize pipeline progression and coverage insights and topline metrics to set global PG targets.
  • Develop an activity-based PG model to optimize pipeline generation across sales, CSG, marketing, product and partner organizations.
  • Develop a pipeline generation and progression framework focused on enabling data-driven decisions and actionable insights.
  • Develop outstanding key internal stakeholder relationships across Data Science, Product, Marketing, Sales, and Finance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Data Science, or Economics
  • 3+ years of hands-on analytical experience in a high-growth company, preferably a company with a consumption-driven model
  • Excellent financial modeling and analysis skills required
  • Experience with Salesforce and Tableau
  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills; must also be proficient using G-Suite
  • Ability to work quickly and manage multiple tasks in a deadline-driven environment while maintaining a high level of precision and attention to detail
  • A high degree of self-motivation fostered in a face-paced, high growth, dynamic environment
  • Ability to influence business partners and provide recommendations in order to drive decision-making and execution
  • Strong executive presence: communication (verbal, written, presentation) and facilitation skills with experience engaging and partnering at all levels internally and with key external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior experience at a company with a consumption-driven model
  • Knowledge of SQL and BigQuery
  • Working knowledge of pipeline generation and demand generation in software-based SaaS organizations
  • Working knowledge of the organizations and teams within Sales, Marketing, Customer Success, Partner Ecosystem, Enablement, and Sales Operations.
