About the position

The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) - US will play a crucial role in supporting the planning and performance processes across National Grid USA. This position is essential for delivering annual operating budgets and longer-term business plans, providing valuable finance and business insights. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with Finance Business Partnering teams to analyze key assumptions that will drive results and strategies for various business units and groups. In this role, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for producing budgets, financial models, and associated documentation that align with both Corporate FP&A and the broader business needs. This includes developing, driving, and challenging business assumptions critical to short-term results and long-term strategies. The analyst will also conduct scenario analyses and respond to ad-hoc requests related to key investment decisions and prospective rate filings. Collaboration is key in this position, as the Senior Analyst will work with the wider FP&A team to consolidate National Grid USA budgets and business plans. They will support the governance and timeline of the overarching plan to perform process, ensuring a seamless connection between the record-to-report and plan-to-perform processes in partnership with Accounting counterparts within the Controllership. Additionally, the analyst will contribute to the continuous improvement of the plan-to-perform process while adhering to necessary SOX requirements, fostering an inclusive and collaborative team environment with peers in the US controllership.

Responsibilities

  • Produce budgets, models, and associated documents for relevant businesses or groups in line with Corporate FP&A and wider business needs.
  • Collaborate with Finance Business Partnering to develop, drive, and challenge business assumptions critical to short-term results and long-term strategy.
  • Run scenario analyses and respond to ad-hoc requests for key investment decisions and prospective rate filings.
  • Collaborate with the wider FP&A team on consolidated National Grid USA budgets and business plans.
  • Support the requirements, governance, and timeline of the overarching plan to perform process.
  • Partner with Accounting counterparts to ensure proper tie-in between record to report and plan to perform processes.
  • Support continuous improvement of the plan to perform process while maintaining necessary SOX requirements.
  • Drive an inclusive and collaborative team environment with peers within the US controllership.

Requirements

  • Budgeting and long-term financial planning experience.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS accounting standards.
  • Experience in utility accounting and finance.
  • Familiarity with finance/budgeting systems.
  • Ability to build effective business partnerships.
  • Experience working cross-functionally.
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred in Finance or Business.
  • 3-5 years of progressive Finance experience.

  • Annual salary range of $97,000-$114,000 for NYC and $91,000-$107,000 for MA, commensurate with experience.
