About the position

The Senior Analyst, Institutional Research at the College of Southern Nevada plays a crucial role in providing comprehensive analysis and management information regarding the institution's students, faculty, staff, enrollment, and academic programs. Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics, this position is integral to supporting the institution's planning needs through data analysis that informs sound decision-making. The Senior Analyst will utilize a variety of skills, including proficiency in SQL, statistical analysis software, and survey development, to prepare reports, visuals, and presentations tailored to specific audiences. In this role, the Senior Analyst will be responsible for conducting both quantitative and qualitative research projects, which includes designing research methodologies, collecting data, and analyzing results. The position requires a strong ability to communicate findings effectively, both in writing and verbally, ensuring that insights are accessible to stakeholders across the institution. The ideal candidate will have experience in higher education, a solid understanding of student information systems, and the ability to create compelling data visualizations using tools such as Tableau, MS Excel, and MS Power BI. The Senior Analyst will also be expected to independently prioritize and manage multiple projects, demonstrating strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively within a dynamic team environment. This position is essential for driving data-informed strategies that enhance the educational experience and operational effectiveness of the College of Southern Nevada.

Responsibilities

  • Provide institution-wide analysis and management information regarding students, faculty, staff, enrollment, and academic programs.
  • Support ongoing planning needs through comprehensive data analysis.
  • Design and manage quantitative and qualitative research projects.
  • Prepare reports, visuals, and presentations tailored to specific audiences.
  • Create data visualizations using platforms such as Tableau, MS Excel, and MS Power BI.
  • Write SQL queries to extract and analyze data.
  • Communicate research findings clearly in both written and oral formats.
  • Independently prioritize, plan, and organize projects and tasks.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Sociology, Psychology, or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3 years of full-time comparable professional experience in data analysis or institutional research.
  • Experience creating data visualizations using Tableau, MS Excel, or MS Power BI.
  • Proficiency in statistical software such as SPSS, R, or SAS.
  • Experience writing SQL queries for data extraction and analysis.
  • Ability to design and manage research projects, both quantitative and qualitative.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a higher education environment.
  • Knowledge of student information systems such as PeopleSoft or Banner.
  • Familiarity with data extraction techniques using SQL.
  • Understanding of the operations and policies of public institutions of higher education.
