About the position

The Senior Analyst, FP&A position at Sompo International is a critical role within the North America Insurance Financial Planning and Analysis team. This position focuses on supporting the reporting, forecasting, and budgeting processes, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting while collaborating with key stakeholders to identify opportunities for continuous improvement. The role is based in New York, NY or Purchase, NY, and emphasizes a collaborative work environment that fosters employee development and long-term career growth.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist with the annual budget process for the North America Insurance segment.
  • Assist in the business planning process, including identifying key inputs, initiatives, resources, performance targets, and analyzing operating results.
  • Enhance tools around reforecasting of current plans.
  • Execute financial strategy in the development and maintenance of the financial planning process by regularly analyzing financial data and testing financial analysis models.
  • Provide recommendations for action plans in the post-plan improvement process as needed.
  • Facilitate effective decision-making by analyzing financial actual and plan information, reviewing, and forecasting business, industry, and economic conditions.
  • Collaborate and communicate with internal stakeholders to identify, research, and resolve discrepancies in financial reports.
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly performance reports including Broker Production, Line of Business and Segment Profit Analysis, and underwriting metrics.
  • Collaborate with people at different levels within the organization to accomplish common goals; escalate issues when necessary.
  • Utilize SAP, Cognos, Anaplan, and other systems to obtain data for monthly, quarterly, forecast, and plan processes.
  • Assist with special projects and ad hoc analysis as needed.

Requirements

  • 2-3 years relevant experience; experience in the insurance industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree with a major in a quantitative field (e.g. Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field).
  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) experience desired; experience in a financial role; data analysis & reporting experience.
  • Working knowledge preferred of products and concepts relating to the insurance industry.
  • Financial reporting, financial analysis, and financial modeling skills.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel skills to analyze and present data clearly.
  • Excellent attention to detail and verbal/written communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with budgeting software(s).
  • Knowledge of economic and accounting principles and the analysis and reporting of financial data.
