About the position

The position involves leading a team of actuaries to support product development for Arch Insurance business units. The role focuses on preparing actuarial support for rate and rule filings, conducting indication analysis, impact calculations, and competitor research. The candidate will collaborate with other actuarial leaders and cross-functional business partners to develop filing strategies and improve automation and efficiency in analyses. Additionally, the role includes monitoring bureau filings and ensuring compliance with insurance regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of actuaries to support product development for Arch Insurance business units.
  • Prepare actuarial support for rate and rule filings, including indication analysis and impact calculations.
  • Conduct competitor research and create state-specific exhibits.
  • Collaborate with other actuarial leaders and cross-functional business partners on product development initiatives.
  • Provide filing strategies and serve as a creative sounding board for businesses.
  • Develop tools for impact and indication analyses to improve automation and efficiency.
  • Coordinate responses to state rate filing objections and assist in negotiating approvals.
  • Monitor and initiate bureau filings for rate and rule adoptions.
  • Review and interpret insurance regulations, bulletins, and publications to determine rate impact and compliance risks.

Requirements

  • 4-8 years of experience in actuarial roles with four or more exams completed.
  • Strong project management and supervisory experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of P&C Insurance products and filings in admitted lines.
  • Experience engaging with Departments of Insurance (DOIs).
  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills with a theoretical foundation.
  • Superior communication skills for partnering with cross-functional business partners.
  • Proficiency in software tools such as Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; database and programming skills preferred.
