About the position

This analyst role supports the Personal Lines Auto Product on the Underwriting Effectiveness Team at Liberty Mutual. The position involves a blend of analysis, project management, and product management, aimed at delivering quantifiable business value and identifying opportunities for improvement. The analyst will conduct complex analyses, manage projects, and provide recommendations on tools and techniques for analysis, while also mentoring less experienced analysts.

Responsibilities

• Support the Personal Lines Auto Product on the Underwriting Effectiveness Team.
• Conduct moderate to high complexity analysis under general direction.
• Set up and run advanced loss and demand models with limited support.
• Query data to conduct ad hoc analysis of metrics.
• Build simple tools and queries for others to use.
• Perform underlying analysis on important projects for the SBU.
• Provide recommendations on appropriate tools and techniques for analysis.
• Lead workstreams on medium to long-term or moderate to high complexity projects.
• Manage aspects of low to moderate complexity projects including team members.
• Conduct competitive intelligence and understand market trends for a product line.
• Monitor and interpret developments in the market.
• Serve as an ad hoc resource for less experienced analysts.
• Mentor others as requested.
• Conduct analysis to evaluate and implement vendor products with limited supervision.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in mathematics, economics, statistics, or other quantitative field.
• Minimum 3 years relevant work experience, typically 4 years.
• Strong proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and statistical software packages (e.g., SAS, PowerBi).
• Strong planning, organizational, analytical, decision making, and communication skills.
