About the position

As a Senior Analyst in Revenue Excellence at McKinsey's Social, Healthcare and Public Entities (SHaPE) practice, you will play a pivotal role in transforming revenue cycles for healthcare providers. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about improving healthcare systems and have a strong analytical background. You will be part of a team that focuses on end-to-end revenue cycle transformations, which encompass various aspects such as patient access, coding, clinical documentation, billing, accounts receivable management, and related IT systems. Your work will directly impact the financial health of healthcare organizations by enhancing their revenue cycle performance through innovative solutions and strategic insights. In this role, you will collaborate closely with client leaders and front-line operators to implement changes that align with their organizational goals. Your responsibilities will include supporting healthcare providers in increasing patient volume, optimizing pricing strategies, and capturing value effectively. You will engage in projects that aim to improve payer yield, enhance mid-cycle performance, and reduce costs associated with collections. By leveraging advanced analytics and technology, you will help clients build the necessary capabilities, systems, and processes to achieve sustainable results. Your contributions will not only focus on immediate problem-solving but also on coaching client teams to ensure that the improvements made are lasting. You will be expected to share your insights and perspectives with senior clients and colleagues, fostering a collaborative environment that drives success. This position offers flexibility in hiring at either the Senior Analyst or Specialist level, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage projects that improve revenue cycle performance, including patient collections and denial write-offs.
  • Drive end-to-end revenue cycle transformations for healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with client leaders and front-line operators to implement critical changes.
  • Support healthcare providers in optimizing pricing and capturing value.
  • Engage in projects focused on increasing payer yield and improving mid-cycle performance.
  • Develop technology assets that assist client teams in achieving their goals.
  • Coach client teams to ensure sustainable results and lasting outcomes.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree; advanced degree in a quantitative or healthcare discipline is a plus.
  • 4+ years of professional experience in a healthcare environment with revenue cycle transformation experience.
  • History of managing projects that improved revenue cycle performance.
  • Familiarity with revenue cycle technology assets and concepts.
  • Strong analytical skills and enthusiasm for analytical work.
  • Understanding of statistical and advanced analytics methods.
  • Experience communicating effectively with senior clients and colleagues.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

Nice-to-haves

  • Exposure to product development or implementation in revenue cycle technology.
  • Experience in healthcare consulting or related fields.
