About the position

In this role, you will lead the data strategy for the Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB) organization. This role will be responsible for the creation and execution of all data related to CSB, supporting both the financial and operational areas. This role is best suited for an individual who has a passion for turning raw data into actionable insights. This position will matrix with all areas within CSB, as well as the broader government business. You will work with internal leaders to understand business challenges and opportunities, ultimately to identify and build data assets to support CSB. Key Responsibilities include constructing and implementing the Cigna Supplemental Benefits (CSB) Data Strategy, identifying all CSB data inputs, and working with IT stakeholders to understand the current landscape of data. You will create a CSB specific data warehouse or lakehouse and be the owner of all business logic related to data transformation. Additionally, you will work with business partners to determine specific data needs and create curated datasets to meet those requirements. Collaboration with internal stakeholders to understand current data challenges and identify future opportunities for the creation of data assets is essential. You will also create both a data governance program and an internal data training program for key stakeholders to enhance their ability to understand and make data-driven decisions. Taking ownership of existing data assets and making recommendations and changes based on the new data strategy will be part of your responsibilities. Building strong relationships with CSB leadership and becoming a trusted consultative partner for the data and analytics teams is crucial for success in this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, Data Science, or other quantitative focus (Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, etc.)
  • 7+ years of healthcare experience
  • Proven capabilities in ETL / ELT processes and the creation / ownership of data warehouses / lakehouses
  • Track record of creating and maintaining data assets that drive business results
  • Coding skills in either SQL / SAS required; Python / R other languages preferred
  • Demonstrated experience working with non-technical business partners in a consultative manner
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
  • Teradata experience preferred
  • Databricks experience preferred
