About the position

ExploreLearning is seeking an experienced Analytics Engineer to join a centralized data team. The primary focus of this role is to partner with the product development team to provide insights into user experience and to build embeddable LLM-based AI models. The successful candidate will be a well-rounded data professional with strong technical, communication, and collaboration skills, capable of building data models to support core operations and working cross-functionally with key internal stakeholders to address their pain points with end-to-end data solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Build and own optimal data pipelines delivering well-defined, tested, documented, and code-reviewed shared data sets to support analysis, reporting, mathematical modeling, and BI tooling.
  • Proactively identify operational pain points and inefficiencies with cross-functional partners and develop new tools and automated processes to solve them.
  • Partner with key stakeholders across business functions to build dashboards and other BI tools that deliver insights and enable self-service.
  • Propose and undertake improvements to our dbt infrastructure through refactoring, automated testing, and enhancement of code hygiene.
  • Support EdTech researchers studying the effectiveness and efficacy of education interventions.
  • Conduct root cause analysis.
  • Document models, processes, and nomenclature.

Requirements

  • Fluency and excellent problem-solving in SQL.
  • Proven background collaborating with cross-functional stakeholders and implementing end-to-end data solutions that help them do their jobs.
  • Solid command of dbt, with at least 2+ years of daily use building data models.
  • 2+ years creating dashboards in Tableau.
  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills, especially regarding requirement intake.
  • Strong stakeholder and project management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work autonomously.
  • 2+ years working in a cloud data warehouse (Preferred: Snowflake).
  • Understanding of data warehouse practices and concepts (Major Bonus Points).
  • Substantial experience working with unstructured or semi-structured data (JSON, XML) (Major Bonus Points).
  • Working knowledge of Python outside ingestion APIs (Bonus points).
  • Experience working with Snowflake Cortex or Salesforce Container Services (Bonus points).
  • Experience in a role regularly requiring ROI / Impact estimation (Bonus points).
  • Ability to analyze data using basic statistical methods, interpret results, and provide written and graphical summaries of data analyses (Bonus points).
  • Experience with SSMS (Bonus Points).
  • General purpose object-oriented programming skills (Python, C#, Java) outside of ETLs.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Snowflake Cortex or Salesforce Container Services.
  • Experience in a role regularly requiring ROI / Impact estimation.
  • Ability to analyze data using basic statistical methods, interpret results, and provide written and graphical summaries of data analyses.
