About the position

The Senior Analytics Engineer at Rivian plays a crucial role in empowering executive leaders and functional teams to make informed, data-driven decisions. This position involves developing strategic data solutions, crafting reports, and designing intuitive visualizations and self-service analytics tools. The successful candidate will support management reporting and develop high-profile dashboards for senior leadership, requiring expertise in data visualization, strong attention to detail, and a solid understanding of business intelligence tools.

Responsibilities

  • Drive data democratization by building and automating centralized dashboards, data models, and SQL scripts for key executive stakeholders.
  • Contribute to code-based data transformations using SQL, dbt, and Databricks to provide user-facing analytics tables.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to define key metrics, analyze data, build robust data models, and develop data-driven solutions.
  • Convert ambiguous business requests into technical requirements.
  • Drive projects from inception to delivery, ensuring data solutions deliver reliable data and actionable insights.
  • Foster a culture of excellence within the analytics community by promoting best practices in data pipelines, dashboards, and core data concepts.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on data and visualization best practices for business stakeholders and deliver training for business analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, analytics, or equivalent practical experience; Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of analytics-focused experience.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL.
  • Experience with DBT and data transformation; experience using version-controlled workflows is a plus.
  • Experience with one or more programming languages (Python, R, etc.) to deliver or manage data pipelines.
  • Strong proficiency in developing data visualizations using tools like Hex, Tableau, or Power BI.
  • Strong attention to detail and experience collaborating across multiple technical and non-technical teams.
  • Strong communication skills, adept at presenting technical solutions to senior stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cloud-based data warehousing solutions.
  • Familiarity with machine learning concepts and tools.
