About the position

The Senior Analytics Engineer at Hiscox US is responsible for designing, developing, and supporting data analytics capabilities that drive value for the organization. This role involves thought leadership in analytics, ensuring scalable and future-proof designs, and delivering strategy-aligned analytics solutions. The engineer will work closely with business units to understand their needs, develop intuitive dashboards, and ensure data integrity while providing training and support for analytics tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop intuitive dashboards and data visualization products using Power BI, Tableau, and other analytics tools.
• Architect and model data for self-service and scheduled reports.
• Conduct extensive quality control and record-keeping procedures to ensure the highest levels of data integrity.
• Develop content and deliver training to business on the use of Power BI, Tableau, and other analytics tools.
• Research best practices procedures pertaining to performance, governance, and standards, and implement them.
• Provide enterprise level solutions and development approach in visualization (e.g. automation, performance testing, version control).
• Perform effective problem solving with business experts, management, and team members to solve complex business issues from strategy to execution.
• Understand business requirements and objectives and derive technical requirements, develop, document, and implement solution design.
• Actively participate in Analytics CoE and support business needs (including consultation, assistance, and training) across the Enterprise.
• Continuously improve and evolve tools, capabilities, and processes to remain relevant and in alignment with strategies/direction across business areas.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience developing Analytics Capabilities (including self-service) and Reports using tools like Power BI or Tableau.
• Architected multiple dashboard solutions using Power BI or Tableau server features (e.g. Embedded analytics, row level security).
• Strong SQL skills and understanding of data model, architecture, ETL processes and tools (e.g. SSIS, delta loading).
• Ability to creatively tell a story with data to a wide range of audiences (e.g. Management, Executives).
• Working experience in multiple reporting tools sourcing semantic models and Cloud-based data warehouses/lakehouses.
