About the position

The Senior Android Developer (Kotlin Specialist) at Motorola Solutions is responsible for developing and maintaining user-facing and integrator-facing applications for Openpath's access control platform. This role requires strong analytical and software skills, with a focus on building scalable and innovative solutions in a team-centric environment. The developer will collaborate with engineering teams to ensure high standards of stability, security, user experience, and accessibility in the applications.

Responsibilities

• Develop features for and maintain Openpath's user-facing and integrator-facing apps
• Develop Android applications using Kotlin
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with other engineering team members
• Maintain high bar in the apps for stability, security, user experience, and accessibility
• Work with product + engineering team to guide overall system architecture + design
• Work with Product Management and leadership to assist with prioritizing efforts for each sprint
• Contribute as other skills allow within our fast-paced environment and evolving product portfolio
• Help with care and feeding of our products + services, sharing responsibility for the quality and reliability of the entire system

Requirements

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related discipline is preferred
• 5+ years of experience building Android applications
• Deep understanding of Kotlin
• Professional experience with Android UI frameworks and Android OS
• In-depth knowledge with Android Studio and the Android SDK
• Excellent debugging skills to solve challenging problems
• Experience/knowledge in mobile application software development tools (e.g. GIT, JIRA...), testing, process (Agile, Kanban) and configuration management
