About the position

The Senior Android Developer will join a Fortune 500 transportation company in Fort Worth, TX, for a 2-month contract opportunity. This role focuses on leveraging cutting-edge technology to solve business problems in a collaborative environment, participating in all phases of the development process, and advocating for agile methodologies and test-driven development.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage cutting-edge technology to solve business problems.
  • Participate in all phases of the development process from inception through transition.
  • Advocate for the agile process and test-driven development.
  • Use object-oriented development tools to analyze, model, design, construct, and test reusable objects.
  • Improve the codebase continuously.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and product owners to bring customer-focused features to life.
  • Write quality code that is efficient, maintainable, and scalable across teams.
  • Own code from conception to production.
  • Work with customer support and product owners to pivot on features and address reported bugs.

Requirements

  • BS in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 5+ years of Android development experience with knowledge of API design, best practices, and UX guidelines.
  • Proficiency in Kotlin and Java programming.
  • Experience with Jetpack Compose and debugging skills.
  • Familiarity with build/deployment tools such as Android Studio, Gradle, and Git.
  • Experience with DevOps tools like Slack, Gradle, and GitHub actions.
  • Knowledge of multi-threading and REST-based JSON APIs.
  • Ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical groups.
  • Demonstrated great communication skills and initiative to solve problems.
  • Experience in Agile methodologies, such as SCRUM.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment and independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in commercial software development.
  • History of publishing native mobile apps.
  • Knowledge of UI testing and continuous integration.
