About the position
The Senior Android Engineer at Verkada will be part of a dynamic team focused on building cloud-managed intercom systems, which is a key product line for the company. This role involves collaborating with firmware, backend, and frontend engineers to develop innovative solutions that enhance customer communication through video and audio capabilities. The position offers significant ownership and autonomy, allowing the engineer to drive product ideas to completion while ensuring high performance and user experience.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and implement robust backend APIs.
- Develop and maintain high-performance Android applications.
- Drive product ideas from concept to completion, ensuring best-in-class user experiences.
- Write multi-threaded and asynchronous code for optimal performance.
- Contribute to the design and development of user interfaces, focusing on usability and aesthetics.
Requirements
- 7+ years of industry software engineering experience.
- 5+ years of experience developing on Android.
- 2+ years of Embedded Android or AOSP experience.
- In-depth understanding of Kotlin and Android SDK.
- Experience with Jetpack Compose is a plus.
- Experience building UIs for Linux with frameworks like Qt is a plus.
- Ability to deliver high-performance user experiences.
- Comfortable writing multi-threaded, asynchronous code.
- Experience collaborating cross-functionally to design simple and robust backend APIs.
- Strong eye for design, product details, and polish.
- Degree in Computer Science or related Engineering field.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with Jetpack Compose.
- Experience building UIs for Linux with frameworks like Qt.
