About the position

The Senior API Developer will play a crucial role within the Retail Wireless team at DISH, focusing on designing and implementing AWS cloud-native backend components that support mobile applications. This position emphasizes collaboration across multiple teams and requires a strong background in cloud technologies, particularly AWS, as well as experience in software development and automation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Designing and implementing AWS cloud-native backend components supporting mobile apps.
  • Interacting with multiple teams, both internal and external, to provide necessary logic and integrations for the mobile layer.
  • Designing and implementing AWS-based architectures that enable cost-effective high throughput using serverless and autoscaling.
  • Utilizing automation to deploy components quickly and with low risk.
  • Recommending standards, best practices, architectures, and technologies for mobile development.
  • Deploying and supporting the apps delivered by the team to ensure optimal customer experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a business or technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • 3+ years of cloud experience (AWS/GCP).
  • 3+ years working with Web Services, REST API, and Microservices patterns.
  • 2+ years of modern software development utilizing automation for builds, testing, and deployments using CDK.
  • Demonstrated experience in software application Lifecycle Management (LCM), and composition of JSON/YAML files.
  • Experience with Infrastructure-as-Code practice and tools, such as Vault, Jenkins, Ansible, Terraform.
  • Experience in programming, system integration, or software product deployment using Java, TypeScript, Python, or advanced Shell scripting.
  • Experience managing applications in Amazon Web Services and familiarity with core offerings.
  • Good working knowledge of deploying and managing large scale applications and services.
  • Experience working in a highly automated agile environment where changes are pushed often.
  • Self-motivation with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • A constant learner mindset with the drive to innovate.
