About the position

The Senior Application Developer position at the University of Pennsylvania's Department of Radiology focuses on developing and maintaining software pipelines for image analysis within the Ai2D Center. This role is crucial for advancing personalized medicine through the clinical translation of neuroimaging processing, leveraging advanced imaging techniques and machine learning models. The developer will work collaboratively with researchers to implement innovative technical solutions and ensure adherence to quality and security standards.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain software pipelines for image analysis.
  • Install and package software for clinical deployment.
  • Write and update code from research prototypes.
  • Run and test software pipelines and integrate them with clinical systems.
  • Train Deep Learning and other machine learning models.
  • Communicate with researchers to determine functional requirements and propose technical solutions.
  • Ensure adherence to technical, quality assurance, data integrity, and security standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree and 3 to 5 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python and/or C++.
  • Experience with software containerization tools like Docker and Singularity.
  • Familiarity with software development tools including IDEs, debuggers, and version control systems (Git/GitHub).
  • Solid understanding of operating system concepts.
  • Experience with high performance computing systems (job scheduling, parallel processing).

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with neuroimaging tools (AFNI, FSL, ANTs, FreeSurfer).
  • Knowledge of web programming and cloud platforms (AWS, Azure).
