About the position

The Senior Application Developer position at the Department of Innovation & Technology (DoIT) involves supporting the Illinois Gaming Board (IGB) through specialized application development. The role requires coordination and execution of complex application development tasks, including database and program design, as well as providing support for testing new processes. The developer will also engage in functional and technical activities related to information processing systems, and assist users in analyzing production application results. This position is integral to maintaining and enhancing assigned applications, making it a key role within the DoIT team.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and conduct specialized application development using designated software/programming languages.
  • Design and develop databases and programs for application support.
  • Perform functional and technical activities in the design of information processing systems.
  • Conduct on-line and batch application development and support.
  • Assist users and operations staff in analyzing results of processing in production applications.
  • Responsible for scheduled and remedial maintenance of assigned applications.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in application development and support.
  • Strong knowledge of database design and programming languages.
  • Ability to perform functional and technical analysis of information systems.
  • Experience in both on-line and batch application development.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a team environment.
