About the position

The Senior Application Developer position at the Illinois Department of Innovation & Technology involves performing complex professional and advisory functions in Application Development Services. The role focuses on developing and maintaining complex applications using web-based analysis and design methodologies, particularly with .NET and Visual Basic JEE stack. The developer will also conduct technical research and systems analysis for the Children eCornerstone program and provide insights for the development and maintenance of Family and Community Services Systems and the WIC Program. Additionally, this position includes leadership responsibilities, guiding and training lower-level staff.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain complex applications in web-based analysis and design methodology utilizing .NET and Visual Basic JEE stack.
• Conduct in-depth studies involving substantial technical research and systems analysis of Children eCornerstone program functions.
• Provide analysis to DHS program and/or DoIT/DHS management for development, maintenance, and deployment of Family and Community Services Systems and the WIC Program.
• Serve as project leader on highly complex projects, providing guidance, training, and direction to lower-level professional staff.
• Write, debug, test, and document new applications or updates to existing programs utilizing Change Management Software.
• Confer with staff regarding requirements for Bureau of Application Management Systems.
• Keep abreast of new developments in the Information Technology (IT) field.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Requirements

• Experience in application development using .NET and Visual Basic JEE stack.
• Strong understanding of web-based analysis and design methodologies.
• Ability to conduct technical research and systems analysis.
• Experience in project leadership and providing guidance to junior staff.
• Proficiency in writing, debugging, testing, and documenting applications.
