About the position

The Senior Application Developer at the University of Iowa Health Care will provide technical leadership and support for the development and maintenance of interfaces using Cloverleaf and EPIC Bridges. This role is crucial for ensuring effective enterprise integrations and will involve evaluating new systems, managing operational issues, and providing support to both customers and technical teams.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate new systems for interface needs and analyze system interface requirements.
  • Monitor critical systems in Production.
  • Manage operational issues related to interfaces and collaborate with development teams to design and implement solutions.
  • Maintain the Cloverleaf interface engine, including ongoing maintenance and periodic upgrades.
  • Respond to change requests by evaluating requirements and designing modifications to interface logic.
  • Implement modifications to interfaces in response to upgrades of EPIC and other third-party vendor systems.
  • Provide first and second level support to customers and application technical teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Management Information Systems or equivalent experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience with healthcare interfaces and major cross-application integrations.
  • Experience working with application owners and vendors to define system and integration requirements.
  • Experience acting as a technical project manager or project team lead.
  • Experience working with non-technical end-users to define system requirements.
  • Programming experience using a procedural language.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with technical and non-technical staff.
  • Ability to participate in after-hours on-call support.
  • Experience with MS tools (e.g., Word, OneNote, Excel, and Outlook).

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with healthcare systems and processes.
  • Previous experience with Cloverleaf interface engine.
  • Previous EPIC Bridges experience.
  • Previous Epic application build or integration experience.
  • Previous Unix/Linux shell scripting (BASH).
  • Previous experience implementing interfaces in a healthcare environment.
  • Previous experience configuring the Connexall alert management system.
