About the position

The Sr Application Engineer at Highmark Health plays a crucial role in leading the digital and data transformation efforts, focusing on modernizing complex Master Data Management (MDM) platforms to more open and innovative architectures. This position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver a Person-360 ecosystem that enhances user experiences and business outcomes. The engineer will be responsible for analyzing, designing, coding, testing, and implementing application enhancements while providing ongoing support and ensuring compliance with company standards.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, design, code, test, and implement complex application enhancements.
  • Provide general production support, ensuring minimal defects and adherence to scope and budget.
  • Collaborate with customers, business analysts, and IT team members to understand business requirements and design quality technical solutions.
  • Provide technical support, including release implementations and on-call support as necessary.
  • Participate actively in project teams in various roles, including Developer, Technical Lead, and Project Manager.
  • Communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders, conducting technical walkthroughs and reporting project status.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5 years of experience as a developer.
  • Experience with Project Management tools.
  • Experience with databases.
  • Experience with multiple coding languages.

Nice-to-haves

  • Master's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a closely related field.
  • 5+ years in the Healthcare Industry or similar highly regulated industry.
  • 5+ years of experience with MDM systems, preferably Informatica.
  • Advanced experience migrating and modernizing legacy MDM applications.
  • 3+ years of cloud data warehousing experience, preferably with GCP.
  • 3+ years of experience with Databricks.
  • Advanced knowledge of data movement and integration platforms, preferably Pub/Sub and Kafka.
  • Advanced knowledge of governance platforms and practices.
