About the position

The Senior Application Developer role at Ryder involves developing and maintaining software solutions for ecommerce operations, specifically focusing on backend systems that support product management in RyderShip warehouses. The position requires collaboration with various teams to deliver high-quality software and includes responsibilities for mentoring other developers and providing on-call support for critical issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for core applications.
• Test applications using various strategies to ensure functionality before QA handoff.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with the team to prioritize and refine work based on business needs.
• Work with other developers, designers, and product owners for seamless integration and user experience.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Provide support to internal customers to resolve outstanding issues.
• Monitor application health through dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Seven (7) years or more of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of experience in Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud-based services and architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of ecommerce platforms and logistics operations.
