About the position

The Senior Application Developer role at Ryder System involves developing and maintaining software solutions for ecommerce operations. This position focuses on backend systems, ensuring robust and scalable applications that support the company's logistics and shipping needs. The developer will collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality software and mentor junior developers, contributing to the team's growth and success.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for core applications.
• Test applications using various strategies such as Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize and refine work based on business needs.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Monitor application health by establishing dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Seven (7) years or more of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology experience preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in conveying technical concepts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ecommerce software solutions.
• Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
