About the position

The Senior Application Developer role on the RyderShip team involves developing and maintaining software solutions that facilitate ecommerce operations for customers. This position focuses on creating robust backend systems, collaborating with various teams, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software that meets business needs. The developer will also mentor junior team members and provide on-call support for critical issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for the core application.
• Test the application using various testing strategies to ensure functionality before handing off to QA.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with the team to determine, refine, and prioritize work based on business needs.
• Work with other developers, designers, and product owners for seamless integration and user experience.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Provide support to internal customers to resolve outstanding issues.
• Monitor application health by establishing dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of software development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of experience in Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with various testing strategies like Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing.
• Ability to work effectively in ambiguous situations and bring clarity to complex issues.
