About the position

The Senior Application Developer role at Ryder System Inc. involves developing and maintaining software for ecommerce operations, specifically for the RyderShip team. The position focuses on creating robust backend systems and collaborating with various teams to deliver high-quality software solutions that meet business needs. The developer will also mentor junior developers and ensure the application’s health through monitoring and support.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for the core application.
• Test the application using various testing strategies to ensure functionality before QA handoff.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize and refine work based on business needs.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting a culture of continuous learning.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Monitor application health by establishing dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Seven (7) years or more of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ecommerce software solutions.
• Familiarity with cloud-based services and architectures.
• Knowledge of Agile development methodologies.
