About the position

The Senior Application Developer role at Ryder System Inc involves developing and maintaining software solutions for ecommerce operations. The position focuses on enhancing backend systems to support the RyderShip team, ensuring seamless integration and optimal user experience while collaborating with various teams. The developer will also mentor junior developers and provide on-call support for critical issues, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for core applications.
• Test applications using various strategies to ensure functionality before QA handoff.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with team members to prioritize and refine work based on business needs.
• Work with other developers, designers, and product owners for seamless integration and user experience.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Provide support to internal customers to resolve outstanding issues.
• Monitor application health through dashboards and alerts.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Seven (7) years or more of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions in unclear situations.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with ecommerce software solutions.
• Familiarity with various testing strategies like Unit Testing and Integration Testing.
