About the position

The Senior Application Developer role at Ryder System involves developing and maintaining software solutions for ecommerce operations. The position focuses on backend systems, ensuring robust and scalable applications that support the company's logistics and shipping needs. The developer will collaborate with various teams to deliver high-quality software and will also mentor junior developers, contributing to the team's growth and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for core applications.
• Test applications using various strategies such as Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with team members to determine and prioritize work based on business needs.
• Mentor and guide other developers, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Monitor application health by establishing dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Seven (7) years or more of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more of Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Experience with ecommerce software solutions.
