About the position

The Senior Application Developer role on the RyderShip team involves developing and maintaining software solutions that facilitate ecommerce operations for customers. This position focuses on creating robust backend systems and collaborating with various teams to deliver high-quality software that meets business needs. The developer will also mentor junior team members and provide on-call support for critical issues.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain enterprise-level integrations for core applications.
• Test applications using various strategies including Unit Testing, Integration Testing, System Testing, and Smoke Testing.
• Provide 24x7 on-call support for Severity 1 issues and manage SLAs for Severity 2 and 3 support tickets.
• Collaborate with the team to prioritize and refine work based on business needs.
• Work with other developers, designers, and product owners to ensure optimal user experience.
• Mentor and guide other developers, promoting continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
• Develop and maintain technical specifications and design documentation.
• Provide support to internal customers to resolve outstanding issues.
• Monitor application health through dashboards and alerts.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering or related field required.
• Master's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of Software Development experience required.
• Three (3) years or more in Transportation Management and/or Distribution Management Technology preferred.
• Strong competency in at least one modern web development language, ideally Ruby on Rails or Typescript.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, especially in technical contexts.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with cloud-based services and architectures.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
• Knowledge of ecommerce platforms and logistics operations.
